Authorities in Orange County have arrested a 28-year-old Huntington Beach man accused of engaging in inappropriate relationships with underage girls between 2017 and 2023. Anthony Oscar Alcala, previously employed as a wrestling coach at El Modena High School and Foothill High School, faces multiple felony charges, including unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department Special Victims Detail began investigating Alcala in February 2025 as part of a broader effort to address sexual assault in youth sports. According to officials, two victims reported that Alcala groomed them and initiated sexual relationships during his tenure as a coach. Further inquiries revealed that Alcala also worked at a private wrestling club in Placentia, formerly known as Somar Wrestling and later renamed Premier Wrestling.
Alcala was taken into custody on April 3, 2025, and booked on felony charges. Given his role provided access to young athletes, investigators are concerned there may be additional victims and are urging anyone with information to come forward. The Sheriff’s Department can be reached at (714) 647-7419 for confidential reports.
