Los Angeles, CA – A series of lawsuits filed in Los Angeles Superior Court have brought attention to allegations of sexual abuse by OB-GYN Dr. Barry J. Brock, involving more than 160 women over several decades. As personal injury attorneys serving the Los Angeles community, [Law Firm Name] is committed to raising awareness about the rights of survivors in cases of medical abuse and the importance of holding both perpetrators and negligent institutions accountable.

Allegations of Decades-Long Abuse at Cedars-Sinai

The most recent lawsuit, filed on April 23, 2025, involves 10 women, identified as Jane Does, who allege that Dr. Brock sexually abused them while they were patients at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and affiliated clinics. This complaint is part of a larger wave of legal actions, with a total of 160 former patients now accusing Brock of misconduct dating back to the early 1980s. Brock, who began his career at Cedars-Sinai in the 1980s and continued practicing until 2018, reportedly retained his clinical privileges until August 2024, when the hospital terminated his employment following numerous patient complaints.
The lawsuits claim that Brock engaged in inappropriate and medically unnecessary contact, including vaginal and breast exams without gloves, examinations without chaperones, and sexually charged remarks. Some survivors also reported physical complications, such as pain from post-birth sutures allegedly performed for cosmetic reasons without consent. Others described having their concerns dismissed by staff, who reportedly excused Brock’s behavior as “just how he is.”

Cedars-Sinai’s Alleged Failure to Protect Patients

Plaintiffs allege that Cedars-Sinai failed to act on multiple red flags and patient reports, allowing Brock to continue treating vulnerable women despite the hospital’s awareness of his conduct. The lawsuits further claim that the hospital and its affiliates continued to refer patients to Brock and did not notify current or former patients when he was suspended in 2024. The complaints outline 17 causes of action, including sexual assault, sexual battery, gender violence, sexual harassment, negligence, and unfair business practices, seeking compensatory and punitive damages, as well as court-ordered supervision of the defendant institutions to prevent future abuse.
In a statement to CBS 8, a Cedars-Sinai spokesperson said, “The type of behavior alleged about Dr. Barry Brock is counter to Cedars-Sinai’s core values and the trust we strive to earn every day with our patients. Dr. Brock no longer has privileges to practice medicine at Cedars-Sinai, and we have reported this matter to the California Medical Board. We recognize the legal process must now take its course, and we remain committed to Cedars-Sinai’s sacred healing mission and serving our community.”
