A 68-year-old pastor in Southern California has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a child, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The pastor, identified by authorities as Quintilo Sagrero, was serving at Templo Pentecostal El Camino Church in Compton when the alleged incident occurred on October 7, as earlier reported by KATU.
Sheriff’s detectives charged Sagrero with two counts of “lewd acts upon a child,” and he was taken into custody on November 6. He is being held on $200,000 bail pending further legal proceedings.

Law enforcement officials have indicated that based on the nature of the allegations, there may be other potential victims who have not yet been identified. Detectives with the Sheriff’s Department Special Victims Bureau are asking anyone with information about the case, or anyone who believes they may have been affected, to come forward.
Members of the public with relevant information can contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Victims Bureau or provide anonymous tips through local Crime Stoppers channels.
As is standard in criminal cases, the accused remains presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
Protective Responsibilities Within Institutions
Allegations involving abuse by individuals in positions of trust—such as clergy, educators, or community leaders—often prompt broader questions about institutional oversight and preventive measures. In civil contexts, claims may be evaluated not only against the individual accused, but also against organizations whose policies, training, supervision, or reporting practices could have contributed to a risk of harm.
In California, certain laws allow for extended timeframes to file civil claims related to childhood sexual abuse, and potential claims may hinge on whether institutions maintained adequate safeguards or responded appropriately when concerns were raised.
