This most recent accident comes on the heels of another deadly hit-and-run in which a young man, only 22 years old, did while riding his bicycle at another intersection in the area. The person who hit the young man, who was driving a Porsche SUV, has yet to be located. The young man’s mother is asking for the person who hit her son to do the right thing and come forward.
In addition to these two accidents, there were reportedly three other people, including two bicyclists, who died in hit-and-run accidents across the greater Los Angeles area. It was also reported that at a vigil service and bike ride for the 22-year-old man, another cyclist got hit by a driver who then left the scene of the accident. Thankfully, in that case, the cyclist’s injuries were not life-threatening. They did, however, require a trip to the hospital.
For the sake of the people and families involved, one can hope that those responsible for these bicycle accidents are located. This is not only important so they can face appropriate criminal charges, it will also give victims the opportunity to pursue compensation from these people for their losses. If, however, they are not located, these victims may have other options for recovering compensation. An experienced California personal injury attorney with knowledge of bike accidents can be very helpful in this respect.
