California residents may be affected by manufacturing defect

When California residents purchase a new vehicle or a product from the store, they expect it to be in proper working order with no defects. It is expected that all the kinks were worked out before the items were allowed to be purchased by the public. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. Sometimes there is a manufacturing defect or design defect that is either covered up or is not seen before the product hits the market. One vehicle and one item have been recalled recently due to defects, which could promote products liability claims being filed across the state of California.

Ford Motor Company is recalling nearly 28,000 2012 and 2013 Ford Edge crossovers. Apparently, the fuel line damper may crack, which could result in gas odor or leakage. If a leak occurs, the vehicle could catch on fire, resulting in serious injuries or fatalities, though none of have been reported so far. Ford says this is possibly due to a defect in the manufacturing process.

Additionally, roughly 42,500 oscillating heaters manufactured by Kenmore are being recalled. Reportedly, the heaters are susceptible to overheating and could cause a fire to occur. At this time, there have been seven such accounts and two injuries.

California residents are urged to immediately return Kenmore heaters and to have 2012 and 2013 model Ford Edge crossovers inspected at a local Ford dealership. If you or a loved one have suffered an injury due to a manufacturing defect or design defect of a product, it would be wise to seek out available legal options. Medical expenses can add up, and a products liability claim may be able to recover some, if not all, of those costs as well as other associated damages.
